Artistic Skills:

Criteria: Creativity and Originality

Standard of Excellence: Artist shows competency in imagination and creates a new, fresh, inventive theme or idea. The artist must have the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, and master originality of thought, uniqueness, and expression throughout theme. The artist shows a skill level that is of their own and does not exhibit imitative qualities.

Criteria: Composition and Design

Standard of Excellence: Artist shows skill in organization or grouping of different parts of work so that the art is achieved as a unified whole. Artist achieves a planned, fashioned form or structure of work. The piece contains a decorative scheme.

Criteria: Expression

Standard of Excellence: Artist has expressed feeling, spirit, or character in artistic execution. The work possesses the quality or power expressing an attitude of emotion.

Criteria: Content

Standard of Excellence: Artist is proficient in thought through medium. Shows content within the composition of the sculpture portrayed. There is substantive information or creative material that is viewed in contrast to its actual or potential manner of presentation. Its content shows appropriateness or is provocative in an appropriate manner.

Criteria: Overall Impression

Standard of Excellence: The artist’s expression is received by the viewer and has a strong effect produced on the intellect, feelings, conscience, and effect of an experience or perception upon the mind, state of being impressed.

Technical Skills:

Degree of Efficiency

Standard of Excellence: Artist creates the sculpture to stage in a large scale of intensity or amount or effort. The use and technique of medium, requiring skill and planning to be performed successfully, and demands a considerable effort and shill in planning and/or making procedure/s.

Placement/ Display

Standard of Excellence: The display or base does not draw the eye away from the piece. It is functional as a base, while remaining visibly appealing and not taking away from the effectiveness of the work. Artist shows competency in positioning and arranging sculpture(s) so that it compliments the piece, production of arrangements, and orientation of elements.

Finish/ Completeness

Standard of Excellence: Artist has effectively completed in detail, the quality of being finished or completed with elegance and precision in its entirety.
